The migration to S/4HANA does away with key customs and global trade features that were available in ERP Standard.
Now it's up to you to find viable alternatives.
SAP GTS 11.0 will be discontinued after December 31, 2025. To ensure continued compliance, you'll need to migrate to an alternative solution.
Most companies are currently implementing or at least planning their S/4HANA transformation. Who has time for anything else?
The SAP S/4HANA® for International Trade module is doing away with many familiar standard features - and only a few are being carried over.
Product classification, INTRASTAT processing, and country- and product-specific export control are currently available. And if you license through the S/4HANA cloud, you'll also still have access to person-specific export control (sanctions list screening).
Customs management, origin of goods, preference calculation, and customizations will no longer be supported under the new technology.
GTS 11.0 will be discontinued at the end of 2025. This is more than just the transition to a new version. It's a transformation, with a profound shift in underlying technology. This means users have no choice but to upgrade their solution by December 31, 2025.
Anyone who misses the deadline is unlikely to get updates or support for GTS 11.0. The current information is that there will be no extended maintenance. Most importantly, SAP is unlikely to continue providing updates for changes to the law, meaning that compliance will no longer be ensured.
SAP's Clean Core Strategy makes the option of adapting the existing system and implementing the frequent regulatory changes on your own far too cost-prohibitive.
Is your company still planning or navigating its migration to SAP S/4HANA? Do you even have the capacity for another transformation project? Time is of the essence. Counting on external consultants? Good luck with that: Most are already fully booked.
Can my IT team handle another migration or implementation project? How can I keep down costs, maintain compliance, and make up for the lost features? And what options do I even have?
You treat GTS migration like any other migration project and decide between the greenfield, brownfield, or selective data migration approach.
Develop whatever is missing in-house.
Turn to SAP-certified add-ons. This is also a viable temporary strategy for ensuring compliance while accessing the features you need.
