“I heard about AEB because they partnered with the company that ran the Java bootcamp I took. I was especially taken with the fact that the company is owned entirely by its own employees and by how much it cares about their wellbeing. Now I'm a software developer in the Customs Management team and greatly appreciate the genuine openness of my colleagues, the personal freedom and the atmosphere around the office.”
— Anna Lena, with AEB since 2022
“I joined AEB when it was still a startup. What I really liked at the time was the climate, the openness, the freedom we had as developers, and of course the many super-interesting technical challenges that we had to overcome. I stayed because all those positive qualities are still here.
Today, I’m a software architect and technical product manager – a role that lets me continue guiding the sustainable development of our software ecosystem.”
— Uwe, with AEB since 1991

That’s easy to answer: Yes. There are all kinds of part-time models at our company, so take a look at the examples here. We’re also flexible about adjusting your work schedule to meet the needs of your current stage of life.
Some teams and communities maintain core working hours for certain tasks. Areas like in-house IT need to maintain a certain availability, of course. In other areas, however, you are totally flexible.
We have an internal policy on “mobile working” stating that every employee at AEB has the basic right to work from different locations. Simply coordinate directly with your colleagues about the number of days that you’ll work outside of AEB offices. Here, too, we have lots of different models. We do consider it important, however — especially during the onboarding phase — that you jump-start your in-house network through in-person meetings.
Our software developers work in teams or communities — whatever works best for the task at hand. Choosing which one of these best matches your needs is part of the process of getting acquainted. Are you looking for a smaller, close-knit group? Then you’ll do better as part of a team. Do you prefer more faces, rotating responsibilities, and more interaction with customers? Then you might do better in a community. We’ll definitely work with you to find the best possible place for you at AEB.
Yes — and in fact, you’ll be even encouraged to! There’s lots of space here to enrich your core responsibilities with things you’re passionate about. A project to improve sustainability, assistance with recruiting, a dialog on agile organization and leadership, and technical areas that rely on cross-team, cross-community management — to name just a few of the options.
Yes. We have such a wide range of job profiles that new opportunities often arise. As we always say: We’re looking for people, not résumés. Just reach out and talk to us.
